ABEES Riding Challenges
Challenge one: All Around Alabama
Circumnavigate Alabama staying inside the state boundaries within either 48 hours (10 Bonus tickets) or 72 hours (5 bonus tickets). You may start at any location along the route and must return to that location within the allotted time. The challenge can be ridden clockwise or counter clockwise. Along the way, you will ride through many interesting small to medium sized towns and cities. Most of the roads you ride are small scenic county roads, some are very twisty, and you will make 223 turns within the 1,293 miles to complete the ride. Go to our website page “2010 ABEES Riding Challenges” for all of the route details. There you will find GPS routes to download into your computer, then into your GPS unit. You will also find written turn by turn directions that can be downloaded and printed.
Challenge two: Extremely Alabama
Ride to the seven extreme locations in Alabama; four corners, highest point, lowest point and central location within 48 hours (five bonus tickets): NW – Waterloo. NE – Long Island Baptist Church, SW – Bayou La Batre, SE – Chattahoochee State Park, Central – Main Hall at the University of Montevallo, Highest – Rock Tower at Mt. Cheaha, Lowest – Pink Pony Pub in Gulf Shores.
