Second Saturday RTE
All future Second Saturday rides will be posted on our forum https://forums.bmwmoal.org/ instead of on this page.
Second Saturday Rides are designed to get members out and involved in their local areas. RTE simply means Ride To Eat, so get out there and RTE anywhere you want to go. Your Travel Director will post different routes around the state to some of the best places to eat in Alabama. If you have any suggestions or routes, please send them to [javascript protected email address].

GPX | May - On May 12, 2018, Martin Benson will lead our 2nd Saturday RTE from Hardees Restaurant @ I-65 (exit 247) & Valleydale Road to the Rattlesnake Saloon near Tuscumbia, AL. The Rattlesnake Saloon is a relaxed, funky watering hole under a giant rock with a menu of appetizers, burgers & sandwiches. Upon arrival, we will leave our bikes in the parking area and ride down the hill to the saloon in the back of a pickup truck taxi. After lunch, we will visit the Coon Dog Cemetery, and while there, be sure to check out some of the heartfelt and humorous epitaphs on the grave markers.

GPX | On May 13, 2017 we will be riding from the Huddle House in Chelsea to Catherine's Market in Alexander City, AL. Reminiscent of the original Catherine's Grocery, Catherine's Market brings not only the basic, but the extraordinary, to Russell Crossroads. This ride will be super relaxed and should have us arriving to lunch a little after 12 noon. Russell crossroads is located at beautiful Lake Martin. Just as Catherine did, we have a "little bit of a lot" of different items. And while we won't "sell more out of the back door than the front," we promise to greet you with that same happy smile and personal service. Here are the important facts about the ride:
I look forward to seeing you there! |

GPX | On April 7-8th, Big #1 Motorsports will be hosting the BMW Motorrad Demo Truck. Instead of doing a designated RTE, I thought we could use this as an opportunity to meet at the dealership and support them as well as look at new bikes and fellowship. There will be a food truck on site if you want to grab a bite there. On the flip side of that, there is a a wonderful place not far from the dealer called The Tip Top Grill. I will be headed there for lunch before making it to Big #1. The plan is to be at The Tip Top Grill at 11:15am. I will include a route leaving from Dunkin' Donuts in Wetumpka at 8:30am going to Eclipse Coffee in Montevallo and then on to The Tip Top. I highly recommend Eclipse Coffee for a great espresso, latte, or cappuccino before the nice ride up Shades Crest Road for lunch. | Apr 03 2017
GPX | On March 11, 2017 we will be riding from the Exxon in Montevallo to The Pie Lab in Greensboro, AL. This unique place is known for a community atmosphere and of course…their pies!! They also serve a daily lunch special and the wraps are great. Here is a link to their menu as well as a link to their Facebook page. Our ride will go a little south and through the Talladega National Forest to the southern edge and then west into Greensboro. Stands up in Montevallo at 10:30am. Also, for any early birds, I highly recommend Eclipse Coffee and Books in Montevallo for a great espresso, latte, or cappuccino before the ride. www.facebook.com/PieLabPies/ | Mar 05 2017
